Washington: The United States has invited Taiwan to attend an online conference on democracy, but has not invited China.

The US-led Democracy Conference is set to take place next month on the 9th and 10th. The conference will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing democracies, including the fight against corruption and human rights.

The U.S. State Department says 110 countries, including India, Pakistan, Britain and Japan, have been invited to the conference, which will be chaired by President Biden via video conferencing. The United States, which has invited Taiwan, has not been invited to China. Taiwan was not invited either.

China has strongly opposed the US move.
