/ The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced today, Sunday, that the targeting of the Yemeni Ansar Allah group of the ship “Marilyn Luanda” resulted in a fire breaking out in it and it was extinguished without any injuries, noting that the ship returned to its previous course.

“Yesterday, Saturday, the Iranian-backed Houthis (Ansar Allah group) struck the Bermudian-owned, Marshall Islands-flagged MV Marlin Luanda with an anti-ship ballistic missile in the Gulf of Aden,” CENTCOM said in a statement. “The ship was carrying a cargo of commercial naphtha, a highly flammable liquid hydrogen mixture. Following the missile attack, a large fire broke out in one of the cargo holds.”

“The destroyer USS Carney, the French Navy frigate FS Alsace and the Indian Navy frigate INS Visakhapatnam responded quickly, providing critical firefighting supplies and assisting the civilian crew, whose organic firefighting capacity was exhausted. The multinational crew, whose lives were put at risk by the Houthis, comprised 22 Indians and 1 Bangladeshi,” the statement added.

He continued: “Thanks to this rapid response by the US, Indian and French naval forces, the fire has now been extinguished. There were no casualties in the attack, the ship remains seaworthy, and has returned to its previous course.”

Yesterday, Saturday, the Ansar Allah group claimed responsibility for targeting the oil tanker “Marlin Luanda” with a missile while it was sailing in the Gulf of Aden, which led to a huge fire that lasted for hours before the company that owns it was able to extinguish it.
