/ The US military announced, at dawn on Friday, that it launched seven “self-defense” strikes against four Houthi drone boats and seven anti-ship cruise missiles that were prepared to be launched at ships in the Red Sea.
The US Central Command said in a statement that “on February 8, between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. Sana’a time, CENTCOM forces conducted seven self-defense strikes against four Houthi boats and seven mobile anti-ship cruise missiles that were prepared to be launched against shipping in the Red Sea.
The Central Command identified these American missiles and vehicles in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, considering them an imminent threat to US Navy ships and commercial ships in the region.
Meanwhile, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that more than 100 missiles and launch pads were destroyed in strikes on Houthi sites in Yemen, since the first strikes by the international coalition on January 11.
Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said at a news conference that the strikes on February 3 “destroyed or severely damaged 35 of 36 targets, including weapons storage facilities, radars, three helicopters, command and control centers, and missile systems.”
