/ The US military announced, on Saturday, that it had carried out a strike against an anti-ship missile that the Houthis were preparing to launch into the Red Sea.

The US Central Command said in a statement that the missile “posed an imminent threat to commercial vessels and US Navy ships in the region. The strike occurred at 3:45 a.m. (0045 GMT) Saturday.”

The US military confirmed that an anti-ship missile launched by the Houthi group damaged an oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden on Friday, but there were no reports of casualties.

The US military added that a US Navy ship is providing assistance to the oil tanker.

According to the US military, “the tanker Marlin Luanda reported damage but no injuries, and the US destroyer Carney and other coalition ships are providing assistance.”

The UK Maritime Trade Operations and British maritime security company Ambrey said on Friday they had received reports of a ship being hit in the Red Sea near Aden and a fire breaking out on board.

The Authority received a report of an incident approximately 60 nautical miles southeast of Aden.

AMBREY also said it was aware of an incident 55 nautical miles southeast of Aden where a fire broke out after a “missile” hit a merchant vessel, but the crew were reported to be safe and unharmed.

The Houthi group has been launching wave after wave of drone and missile attacks on commercial ships since November 19, saying it is in protest against Israel’s military operations in Gaza.
