The press service of the US Air Force reported that the test launch of the Minotaur launch vehicle ended in an explosion.
There were no casualties during the incident.
“The wreckage was localized in the immediate vicinity of the launch pad,” the report said.
A special group has been set up to investigate the causes of the incident.
The all-solid-propellant rocket “Minotaur” was developed by the Orbital Science Corporation for the US Air Force to launch government satellites. It is not allowed to be used for commercial launches.
Currently, the fifth modification of the rocket is being developed.
