The US Open tennis tournament, one of the Grand Slam tournaments, is being held in New York City.
22 Grand Slam title holder and world number two Rafael Nadal (Spain) takes on France’s Richard Gasquit in the 3rd round match.
In this, Nadal easily won 6-0, 6-1, 7-5 straight sets and advanced to the 4th round. He has won 18 matches against Gasquit.
Nadal will meet 22nd seed Frances Diabo of the USA in the 4th round.
3rd seed Carlos Algarz (Spain) beat American Jensen 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. In other matches, 7th seed Cameron Norrie (England) and 9th seed Rubalev (Russia) qualified for the 4th round with wins.
14th-ranked Diego Suarez Mann (Argentina) suffered a shocking loss in the 3rd round.
Women’s singles number one Ika Swiadek (Poland) takes on American Lauren Dowicz in the third round. In this, Iga easily won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 and advanced to the 3rd round.
In another match, 9th ranked American player Jessica Pegula defeated Yuan (China) in straight sets 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-0.
In other matches, top seed Shabalenka, Azarenka (Belarus) and Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) won and advanced to the 4th round.
9th seed Carbon Mukuruja (Spain) lost to Pedro Quito (Czech Republic) 7-5, 3-6, 6-7 (10-12).
Similarly, 13th ranked Belinda Benzik (Canada) also lost shockingly.
