US President Joe Biden has said that he has spoken to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about Jamal Khashoggi’s murder.
Biden, who had previously said that Sulthi should be kept aside due to human rights violations, has now traveled there to improve relations with the country.
Joe Biden also said that the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi in 2018 was an important matter for the United States and for him.
However, he also said that many agreements have been signed between the two countries regarding other matters.
Journalist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered in 2018 at the embassy in Istanbul, Turkey. Various countries criticized the government for this.
However, many have criticized Biden’s current trip as giving importance to the government.
US intelligence agencies accused Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of allowing the murder.
But the Sultan continued to deny the allegations. Sulthi’s investigators said the incident was caused by ‘rogue Sulthi agents’.
At the start of the meeting, “I talked about Khashoggi’s murder. I told him what I thought at the time and what I think now,” Biden told a news conference.
“As president of the United States, I cannot remain silent on a human rights issue. We will always stand by our principles,” he said.
Biden said Prince Salman had told him he had nothing to do with the murder personally, according to the AP news agency. “I thought Salman might have something to do with it,” Biden said.
Before this meeting, US President Biden and Prince Salman had a fist bump. It is seen as a sign of good relations between the two countries.
Khashoggi’s fiancée, Hatties Cengiz, criticized Biden’s move.
Sharing the photo, he tweeted, “Is this what you said you would find those responsible for my murder? You have the blood of MBS’s next victim on your hands,” Khashoggi must have thought by now.
Aside from Khashoggi’s murder, Biden and Prince Salman also apparently discussed the oil trade.
“The major oil producer, Suldi, has been asked to take further steps to stabilize the fuel market in the coming weeks,” Biden said.
Who is this Khashoggi?
Jamal Khashoggi is a famous journalist from Saudi Arabia.
He was born in 1958 in Madinah, the holy city of Islam. Studied Business Management at Indiana University, USA.
As a journalist, Khashoggi recorded important events in history. Especially the changes, wars and problems in Middle Eastern countries.
Khashoggi chronicled everything from the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan to the rise of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
He has interviewed Osama many times during the period of 1980-90.
It was Jamal Khashoggi who saved Abdullah Ajjam, who was once the international leader of jihadis. It was also rumored last year that Jamal Khashoggi was a close friend of Osama bin Laden.
He took over the helm of Al Arab TV in 2012 when it was launched in 2012 against the Qatari government-backed Al Jazeera.
However, in 2015, the channel stopped broadcasting within 24 hours of its launch in Bahrain. The reason for this is that Bahrain’s opposition leader was invited to speak.
Jamal was seen as a reporter who eagerly wrote about the affairs of Sulthi.
Khashoggi was not just a journalist. Jamal Khashoggi has been close to the royal family for decades. He is also acting as their advisor.
In 2017, there was a conflict between the Sultanate royal family and Khashoggi.
He severely criticized Sulthi. Compare its hair prince to Russian President Putin.
After that he went to America from there.
Khashoggi continued to write articles in the Washington Post criticizing Prince Salman.
In his first op-ed in the Washington Post, he mentioned that he might be arrested if he was drunk.
