Israel is cautiously suggesting that the US has temporarily postponed its plans to impose unprecedented sanctions against the IDF Netzach Yehuda battalion.
Channel 7 reports this.
According to sources in Jerusalem, thanks to Israeli pressure on American partners, carried out from all sides of the political spectrum, the possibility of imposing sanctions against the battalion is currently excluded. As part of the negotiations with the American side, Israel made clear its willingness to cooperate and demonstrated that problematic situations had been resolved.
According to senior Israeli officials, there are reasonable grounds to believe that they will be able to persuade the American side to abandon the imposition of these sanctions. They note that the strong reaction from Israel, including from politicians and public opinion, surprised Americans.
“It is clear to everyone, including Americans, that the Netzach Yehuda Battalion operates in the most professional manner and in accordance with the spirit and values of the IDF. What we have seen here is a misguided attempt by anti-Israel groups to discredit thousands of veterans and active-duty members of the battalion,” said Yossi Levi, General Director of the Netzach Yehuda Association.
Earlier, Kursor wrote that sanctions against the Israeli Netzach Yehuda battalion caused a strong reaction in Israel. Representatives of the country expressed dissatisfaction and called these measures “unjustified and unproductive.” They are confident that they will be able to convince the American side to abandon this step. The statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken about the possible adoption of “resolutions” on charges of violating US laws caused a wide resonance in Israel.
