New appeal by US President Joe Biden to Congress to ban assault weapons. In the aftermath of yet another mass shooting in Half Moon Bay, the 38th since the beginning of the year in the United States, the American President “again asks both Houses of Congress to act quickly and send the law to ban assault weapons on my desk, and take action to keep American communities, schools, jobs, and homes safe.”

“For the second time in days, California communities are mourning the loss of loved ones in a senseless act of gun violence,” Biden said, noting that he directed his Homeland Security team to “ensure that authorities and local communities have the full support of the federal government after this heinous attack.”

The American president then recalled that yesterday some Democratic senators presented again the law for the ban and another to raise the minimum age for the purchase of arms to 21. “While we await further details on the shootings, we know that stronger action is needed to eradicate gun violence in America.”
