US singer Bebe Rexha says she was threatened by an employee at Munich Airport. She addressed her fans on Instagram in tears.
American singer Bebe Rexha appeared distraught and frightened on Instagram after she said she was prevented from boarding a plane in Munich. The 34-year-old apparently wanted to fly home from Munich on Sunday when she was stopped.
“The supervisor for this Lufthansa flight threatened me,” Rexha claimed emotionally in an Instagram story while wiping away her tears. In the story – which has since expired – she addressed Lufthansa: “I was threatened because I thought the security guard was Albanian.” She therefore spoke to him in Albanian and asked where she could get her ticket. “And now he’s thrown me off the flight.” The singer’s family is from Macedonia and Albania. She did not provide any further details about the course of the incident.
In front of her twelve million followers on Instagram, she accused the employee of a “hate crime”, said she had been “mentally abused” and complained that female employees had not intervened.
According to the British Sky News, Lufthansa issued a statement. According to the statement, the incident is being investigated. The airline pointed out, however, that it does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. “We have contacted Bebe Rexha and are in direct contact with her to understand the situation,” said a spokesperson. According to the company, the pop star took the flight as normal, reported the “Münchner Merkur”.
In another story, the singer later reported from the USA. “I have never been so emotionally drained. Lufthansa contacted me directly, but I strongly advise them to conduct a comprehensive investigation to find out who the man is who abused his power. ‘I’m sorry’ is not enough,” she wrote.
Bebe Rexha is known for her collaboration with DJ David Guetta (“I’m Blue”), but has also written hits for Selena Gomez, Rihanna and Eminem.
