According to the statement, US President Joe Biden met with Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday to congratulate him as he was recently appointed as the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh.

In the meeting, the two leaders mentioned the close partnership between the United States and Bangladesh, the statement said. And at the root of this relationship are mutual democratic values ​​and strong bonds between people.

President Biden welcomes further engagement between the two governments, the statement said. He said, US support will continue to implement Bangladesh’s new reform program.

The Chief Adviser is currently in New York to attend the UN General Assembly session. He had a meeting with US President Joe Biden on Tuesday night. Besides, he also met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, World Bank President Ajay Banga, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and others.

Earlier, the Chief Adviser began his UN visit with a reception hosted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He met world leaders at the reception. He also attended the inaugural session of UNGA.
