US to launch secret military satellite into orbit on Sunday

The Falcon Heavy rocket on Sunday at 1:00 (Moscow time) will launch into orbit with the USSF-67 mission in the interests of the US Space Force. This was announced on Saturday by SpaceX, the developer of the launch vehicle.

As part of the mission, a military communications satellite CBAS-2 will be launched into geostationary orbit.

The US Space Systems Command officially announced that this satellite will expand the capabilities of military satellite communications to provide combat commands and leadership of the country.

Specific data on CBAS-2 is kept strictly confidential by the US.

It is known that the mass of the satellite is about 3 tons.

The rocket will also launch the Pentagon’s LDPE-3A spacecraft into orbit. This is a platform for six mini-satellites. Their tasks are not disclosed.
