US urges Sri Lankan leaders to act quickly to find long-term solutions

Due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, the people’s struggle has reached its peak. The protestors who seized Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapakse’s mansion have seized the goods and are staying there. Meanwhile, Gotabaya Rajapakse has escaped from the mansion.

Similarly, Speaker Abeywardena wrote a letter urging Gotabaya Rajapaksa to step down from the post of President as per the decision taken in this meeting. Abeywardhana has mentioned that Gothapaya who has replied that he will resign on the 13th.

US State Department spokesman Anthony Billingen said, “Any new government must quickly identify and implement solutions to achieve long-term economic stability and address the discontent of the Sri Lankan people.”
