Kyiv ∙ US President Joe Biden announced military aid of 298 million US dollars to Ukraine. The US announcement came as a relief to Ukraine, which celebrated Independence Day yesterday despite its resistance against Russian aggression. In a statement, Biden said that this money will help to buy air defense systems, artillery, drones and other military equipment.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who came to Ukraine to participate in the Independence Day celebrations, announced an aid of 5.4 lakh pounds to Ukraine. He held talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who assured Ukraine of the ultimate victory in the war and urged allies to continue providing military, economic and diplomatic support. Leaders of European countries like France and Spain also reiterated their support for Ukraine on Independence Day.

The country was on high alert yesterday as Russia was rumored to be stepping up military action on Independence Day.
