Out-of-Congress Detention: Police today (Thursday) arrested an armed woman outside the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., who allegedly possessed a number of weapons illegally. The woman, later identified as Kerry Lynn McCathi, was taken in for questioning by security forces.

According to U.S. media reports, 58-year-old McCathey parked her car near the Capitol and told police at the entrance that she had traveled all the way from Michigan to Washington to “present to police information she has about the events of January 6, 2021.” Police forces arrested her after noticing a gun in her possession, and later 2 more weapons were found inside her vehicle.

Local police said McCathy is suspected of four counts of weapons offenses, including illegal possession of a weapon and non-registration of all the weapons in her possession. Despite her reference to the events of the break-in at the Capitol, the police clarified that at this stage there is no suspicion of a political motive or a desire to resort to violent activity in the Capitol, when they said: “The only thing she wanted to do was talk to the police.”
