USA: An Iranian citizen is accused of trying to harm John Bolton, the former national security adviser

by time news

The US Department of Justice accuses a member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards of plotting to assassinate John Bolton, who was former President Trump’s national security adviser.

The Ministry of Justice announced that Shahram Forsafi, also known as Mehdi Razai, 45 years old, from Tehran, was supposed to assassinate Bolton in retaliation for the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Revolutionary Guards, by an American drone in January 2020.

Iran does not have an extradition agreement with the US, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation issued a “highly wanted” notice yesterday for those suspected of planning the connection.

According to the Reuters agency, the US does not believe that this affair, which was revealed yesterday, will affect the renewal of the nuclear agreement talks with Iran.

It is suspected that Harem Forsafi asked a US citizen, defined as “Man A”, to photograph John Bolton while posing as a photographer. The American introduced Forsafi to a government informant who expressed a willingness to photograph Bolton for a fee.

Forsaphy offered the informant a quarter of a million dollars to hire someone to kill Bolton. He explained that the man had to be eliminated and gave him Bolton’s personal details. After that open a crypto account to settle the payment.

John Bolton published a statement last night in which he thanked the Ministry of Justice for his handling of the case, and added: “There is not much to say at this point, but one thing is beyond any doubt – the leaders of Iran are liars, terrorists and enemies of the United States.”
