Time.news – Theagreement on raising the public debt ceiling was approved by the House of the American Congress. The text received the majority of the required votes. Now it will be discussed by the Senate where the Democrats have the majority. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen indicated in the June 5th the day by which the agreement must become executive, to prevent the United States from running out of cash.
Biden: “Good news”
“This deal is a bipartisan compromise” and “good news for the American people and for the American economy”. The President of the United States, Joe Biden said it, commenting on the news. “The agreement – he added – protects key priorities and achievements of the past two years that millions of blue-collar, student and veteran families count on.”
Biden thanked the Speaker of the House, the Republican Kevin McCarthy, and the leader of the Democrats, Hakeem Jeffries, and invited the Senate to approve the text quickly.
