USA: Russia may advise Iran on how to act against the protests in the country

White House officials claimed that the United States is seeing signs that Russia may advise Iran on how to counter the public demonstrations, following protests that broke out across the country to mark the 40th anniversary of the death of Mahsa Amini – This is what CNN reported today (Thursday).

The White House: “We do not intend to return to negotiations with Iran on the nuclear agreement”

“We are concerned that Moscow may be advising Tehran on best practices, drawing on Russia’s extensive experience in suppressing open protests,” White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said during a press briefing.

“The evidence that Iran is helping Russia to rage in its war against Ukraine is clear and public. And the more isolated it is, the closer the countries are to each other. Our message to Iran is very, very clear – stop killing your own people and stop sending weapons to Russia to help kill Ukrainians,” she noted.

As mentioned, demonstrations spread in the Islamic Republic following the death of Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman who died on September 16 after being arrested by the “morality police” for disobeying Iran’s conservative dress code.

The spokesman for the American State Department, John Kirby, did not elaborate on the sources of the information regarding the Russian aid, but emphasized that “we know that they may be considering some kind of support for Iran’s capability. To knock the protesters out.”

The US allegation of Moscow’s possible involvement in Tehran comes on the same day that the US imposed a slew of sanctions against Iranian officials involved in the ongoing crackdown on the protests, including Treasury Department sanctions on the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ intelligence organization. and the Revolutionary Guards’ deputy commander for operations, as well as two officials in Sistan and Baluchistan province.
