An effort undertaken in the direction of increased support for the Kingdom’s strategic commitments as a link and haven of prosperity in Africa and beyond, it was indicated during this working meeting held on Tuesday.

Recalling the exceptional nature of this relationship of more than 67 years between USAID and Morocco, the ambassador underlined the crucial role of USAID programs in the transfer of know-how and expertise, particularly in the areas of education, inclusive development and the empowerment of women.

The Moroccan diplomat put into perspective the structuring axes of public policies decided by the Kingdom to catalyze, support and deepen Morocco’s development momentum in various strategic sectors.

These strategies stem from a vision promoted at the highest level by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, placing the human dimension at the heart of all considerations, and as the purpose of any approach aimed at enhancing inclusive prosperity, both nationally and beyond on the African continent, he stressed.

Highlighting this regional dimension, the ambassador noted that His Majesty the King’s initiative for the Atlantic reflects the eminently united and concerted nature of all the Kingdom’s diplomatic deployments in the region.

“Morocco promotes coherent regional integrations, effective cooperation models and sincere solidarity towards its partners with the aim of creating a broader context of regional peace and security,” said Mr. Amrani.

Sharing this appreciation and reiterating her full commitment to moving forward in cooperation with the Kingdom, Ms. Power said she was impressed and particularly optimistic about the existing capacities to glimpse unparalleled levels of excellence in cooperation with Morocco.

The American official, who recalled in this regard her successful visit to the Kingdom last May, notably underlined the importance of the climate issue in USAID programs in Morocco.

She welcomed the leadership shown by Morocco in this area, particularly through significant progress towards achieving its objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In supporting these efforts, USAID will work with Morocco to develop sustainable development strategies in the areas of renewable energy, water resource management, and sustainable agriculture.

On the prospects for future collaboration between the two parties, the American official noted the eminently “promising” nature of this partnership, noting that USAID and Morocco will continue to work hand in hand to strengthen the resilience of production models, particularly in the agricultural sector and sustainable development.

Noting in passing that this collaboration would not only benefit Morocco, but would also serve as a model for other countries facing similar challenges, Ms. Power stressed that interaction with the Kingdom has all the vocations to become a model of successful cooperation.

The partnership with USAID is expected to be strengthened by strengthening and promoting human capital, combating climate change, empowering women, and developing sustainable agriculture. In addition to these strategic pillars, Morocco represents an important and choice partner for USAID at the regional level, particularly with regard to a series of cooperation priorities in Africa and the region.
