by time news

Used cars of the mass segment of classes B and C in September and October rose by 4-14% compared to August 2021. This follows from the analytical data of the three largest online services for ads for the sale of used cars – Avito Auto, Auto. ru ”and“ Drom.ru ”prepared for“ Vedomosti ”.

In May 2021, the average price of a used car in the mass segment in the country was 444,812 rubles, it follows from the data of Avito Auto. By the end of summer, it increased by 1.2%, amounting to 450,006 rubles in August. In the fall, prices for used cars continued to rise, but much faster. In October, on average, a used car was sold at 515,014 rubles, which is 14.4% more than in August and by 47.1% compared to October 2020, Avito calculated.

The shortage of electronic components, which has caused a shortage of new models in dealerships, as well as the continuing rise in prices for new cars have a significant impact on the used car market, a company spokesman said. Sales of such cars at Avito Auto in the first three quarters of 2021 increased by 7.9% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 3.84 million units.

For three summer months, used cars have risen in price by an average of 8% to 605,000 rubles, a representative of Drom.ru told Vedomosti. At the same time, in September – October they added 9% in price, the average cost reached 660,000 rubles. This is 32%, or 160,000 rubles, more compared to the same period in 2020, the source said.

Economy cars (Lada Vesta, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Solaris, Kia Rio, etc.) over the summer have risen in price by 12% relative to May, the average price class (VW Tiguan, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Rav4, etc.) – by 15 % up to 314,000 and 748,000 rubles. accordingly, follows from the data of “Avto.ru”. In the first two autumn months, prices in these segments grew by 4 and 10%. In October, the average bill for a used economy-class car was 326,000 rubles, the average price segment was 823,000 rubles. Over the past 12 months, it has grown by 27 and 47.2%, respectively.

Used business and premium cars are not rising in price as quickly. Over the summer of 2021, the price for them increased by an average of 7.6% relative to May and stopped at the level of 3.7 million rubles, a representative of Avtodom Group of Companies told Vedomosti. In September – October, prices increased by another 4.3%, and now the average cost of such machines is 3.86 million rubles. At the same time, from October 2020 to October of this year, prices for cars of such classes rose by 32.5%, added the source of Vedomosti. Among the most popular cars in these segments, he named the Mercedes E-class, as well as the BMW 3-Series and 5-Series at the age of three to seven years.

Used cars rose in price month on month throughout 2021, said Droma analyst Daniil Butov. “We believe that the rise in prices will continue in 2022 and will be in the range of 15-20% compared to the previous year. Despite the rise in the price of cars, the demand for them remains high. In an unstable economic situation, Russians see buying a car as a way to preserve their savings, ”he told Vedomosti.

While the rise in prices for new cars has slowed down a bit in recent months, the rise in prices for used cars is still gaining momentum, says Denis Migal, General Director of the Fresh Auto network of car dealerships. He sees the reason for this in the shortage of new cars, which has already begun to be felt in the used car market. Many car owners, according to Migal, are postponing buying a new car amid high prices and little choice in the new car segment. According to him, as of October 2021, the average cost of a used passenger car since the beginning of the year increased by 33% and came close to the mark of 1.1 million rubles. But this does not prevent car owners from changing cars: in 10 months of 2021, Fresh Auto’s sales of used cars grew by 18.3% to 24,804 units.

As long as the supply deficit persists, there is no need to wait for preconditions for price reductions, Migal said. The top manager explained that the price of new cars will rise as almost all automakers will try to minimize the financial damage received during the coronavirus pandemic in this way. And after the new, according to him, the cost of used cars will also grow, spurred by the increasing demand.
