National Unity Party (UBP) Chairman and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel continued his regional visits with Alsancak yesterday.

During his visit to UBP Chairman and Prime Minister Üstel, UBP Secretary General Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, Girne District Chairman Bülent Kutay, Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oğuz, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş, Minister of Health Hakan Dünçyürek, Deputy Hasan Küçük Ziya Öztürkler, Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel Mayor Fırat Ataser were also accompanied.

Before the speeches, a minute of silence was held for the late Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş and the 9 heroic soldiers who were martyred by terrorism in the Claw Lock Operation in the Motherland of the Republic of Turkey.

“OUR PAIN AND SORROW IS ONE…”
At the beginning of his speech, Üstel emphasized the heart-breaking terrorist attack in our homeland, Turkey, and said, “Our pain and sorrow are one… Fire fell into our hearts once again.” Turkey’s pain is also our pain. May God have mercy on our heroic martyrs and I wish patience to their grieving families. “There is no problem that our motherland Turkey cannot overcome with its great and indisputable power,” he said, and once again emphasized that the Republic of Turkey and the TRNC are inseparable parts, like flesh and nails.

“OUR SECTORS ARE SATISFIED, OUR EMPLOYEES ARE HAPPY…”

Ünal Üstel said that, with the support of Turkey, they have started to take the necessary economic steps to make 2024 a much better year than 2023. Üstel announced that they will reflect the 50.31 percent cost of living on their January salaries and reminded that they have increased the cost of living to 3 times a year.

Üstel said, “We promised that we would eliminate the imbalance between high-paid and low-paid public employees. We kept this promise, too. “We came to a common point with the unions and signatures were signed,” he said.

On the other hand, Üstel emphasized that they will continue to provide social insurance premium support to the private sector and noted that there was a satisfactory increase in the minimum wage with a historical agreement. Üstel continued his speech as follows:
“We are increasing premium support proportionately. We are increasing the support rate, which was 25 percent last year, to 65 percent this year. We will provide this support whether one person or ten people work for him. As a result of our studies, we see that; Our sectors are happy, our employers and employees are happy… We said that we will relax our sectors and increase the purchasing power of our people…. We kept the promises we made at the beginning of the year…”

GREAT SUPPORT TO AGRICULTURE AND OUR LIVESTOCK

Ünal Üstel listed the support given and will be given to agriculture and animal husbandry as follows: “
“15 million TL bale support was given for livestock farming in 2023. We provide 70 million barley – feed support to our sheep farmers. We gave feedlot loans to our sheep producers with zero interest for 6 months. In order not to be affected by rising interest rates, we gave chemical fertilizer and seed loans to our farmers with an interest rate of 17 percent. Our support and incentives to livestock farmers will continue. Taking halloumi exports into consideration, incentives are being introduced to increase the size of the small head. Animal head supports will be updated. The support given to sheep milk will be increased by at least 2 times. We will provide the first credit support for our young people who want to deal with animal husbandry and agriculture to meet this sector. “We also announced our Agricultural Mechanization Loan Package for the Purchase of Tractors and Equipment.”

“OUR YOUTH WILL STAY IN THEIR COUNTRY, AND WE ANNOUNCED THE SECOND “FIRST HOME LOAN”

Üstel also emphasized that they are implementing projects one by one to ensure that young people stay in their country and take root in their land.
“We announced our second ‘My First Home Loan’ package. We provide a 10-year low-interest home loan. “Our social housing project will start soon,” he said.
