Uttam Thackeray has announced his resignation as Maharashtra Chief Minister.

Speaking to volunteers and the public on social media, Thackeray thanked Nationalist Congress Party leader Sarabjit Pawar and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for their support. He noted that the Congress and the Nationalist Congress volunteers also stood by him in difficult circumstances.

He pointed out that the farmers’ loans had been written off and that he was ready to extend full cooperation to the next government.

He said the disgruntled MLAs may have been in talks with me except to go to Surat and appreciated the Supreme Court verdict regarding the confidence vote.
