The Election Commission had announced that Assembly elections would be held in Uttar Pradesh in 7 phases. Elections are being held today (Sunday) in 61 constituencies in 12 districts where 4 phases of elections have already taken place. The campaign ended yesterday with a heel. Amethi and Rae Bareli constituencies are dominated by Congress in districts including Sultanpur and Prayagraj with 2.24 crore voters.
Voting starts at 7 a.m. today and ends at 6 p.m. Celebrities, including Deputy Prime Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, are seen in the fray in the 5th phase of the election. In view of this, the 5th phase of voter registration for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections has been going on since this morning. Voters line up to cast their ballots.
