Abhishek Aggarwal, Dehradun: According to the weather department forecast, Uttarakhand is receiving torrential rains. Due to heavy rains everywhere from Garhwal to Kumaon, a one-day holiday has been declared in all schools from class 1 to 12 in eight districts across the state. Normal life has been affected due to the torrential rains since late night.

Due to the continuous heavy rain since late night, the national highways have been blocked at many places. The Badrinath National Highway is closed at about 6 places like Peepal Koti Kanchan Ganga etc., due to which the pilgrims who have come to visit Badrinath are stranded at many places. However, the work of opening the road is being done continuously.

Roads were closed in many places

Due to heavy rains, landslides are increasing at various places. The road has been closed due to continuous falling of stones and Malwa from the mountains. At the same time, the water level of the rivers has also increased. People are being appealed to remain alert due to the rising water level of rivers like Alaknanda, Pindar etc. During the rainy season, incidents like landslides occur more in hilly areas. For this, from a safety point of view, along with holidays in schools, orders have been given to pilgrims to take precautions.
