Uttarakhand Tunnel Rescue: Video of Trapped Workers and Latest Updates

by time news

The rescue efforts to save 41 workers trapped in a tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district have entered the 10th day. The workers, who have been trapped since a tunnel collapsed following a landslide on the 12th, have been receiving food and communication through a 6-inch tube, as reported on Tuesday.

Video recordings released from an endoscopy camera sent through the tube show the workers wearing white and yellow helmets receiving food items and communicating with each other. Officials are closely monitoring the video footage and providing necessary instructions to the workers.

Initially, a 4-inch tube was used to feed and communicate with the trapped workers, but a larger 6-inch pipe was laid on Monday to improve the exchange of information and allow for more food items to be sent to the workers. Sunita Hembram, a relative of one of the trapped workers, reported that communication has significantly improved, and efforts are being made to send them a variety of food items.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Thami for the second day in a row, discussing the progress of the rescue operations. The Chief Minister stated that the Prime Minister had instructed that ‘the priority should be given to the safe recovery of all the workers’.

The rescue operations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to ensure the safe recovery of all the workers trapped in the tunnel.
