Rashmi Khatri, Dehradun: The heat is showing its wrath in the plains of Uttarakhand. Due to the bright sunshine, hot winds are blowing and it is becoming difficult to go out in the afternoon. This heat is creating great difficulty especially for school children. At the same time, due to light rain, the weather remains pleasant in the hilly areas. The weather patterns will change in the hilly areas on Tuesday also. Yellow alert has been issued for light rain and gusty winds in the mountainous areas. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there are chances of light rain in some parts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts.
Along with this, gusty winds will also blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in various areas of the state. The maximum temperature in Dehradun on Monday was 35.2 degrees Celsius. While the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.4 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature of Pantnagar was 35.8 and the minimum temperature was 15.8 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature of Mukteshwar was recorded at 23.5 and the minimum temperature was 10.0 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature of New Tehri was recorded at 25.4 and the minimum temperature was 13.0 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Center, due to climate change and changing weather patterns, such difference in weather is visible in the plains and mountainous areas. This is the reason why the rain falling in the hilly areas has no visible effect on the plains. On the other hand, due to bad weather, the work of removing snow from Hemkund Sahib Yatra route could not start even on Monday. The service personnel and the servants of the Gurudwara are staying at the Gurdwara in Ghangaria itself, waiting for the weather to clear.
The Gurudwara management has started preparing for the Yatra to Hemkund Sahib. A 35-member Seva team and Gurudwara sevadars had reached Ghangaria from Govind Ghat on Sunday to remove snow from the Yatra route. Snow removal work was to start from Monday on Aastha Path from Hatlakoti Glacier Point towards Hemkund Sahib, but due to bad weather from Monday morning itself, the work could not be started.
There are a lot of problems due to intermittent rains in the mountains. Senior manager of the gurudwara, Seva Singh, said that the team is staying at the gurudwara in Ghangaria. The work will be started as soon as the weather opens. Hemkund Sahib is still frozen at 10 feet. On Monday too, there was snowfall on the higher peaks due to which the entire area is experiencing severe cold.
