Rashmi Khatri, Dehradun: Heavy rains are expected once again in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. The Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains in some areas of Dehradun, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Several rounds of heavy rains are expected in other districts as well. According to the Meteorological Center, heavy rains are expected across the state in the coming days. The rains in the state had slowed down a bit in the past few days, but the monsoon has picked up speed once again. While the temperature rises due to bright sunshine, the temperature also drops due to rain. Due to the change in the weather, a mild cold has also started.

Looking at the weather in Uttarakhand, the department has predicted heavy rains in the state in the coming days. Due to which people may face problems due to waterlogging in the plains. Whereas in the hilly districts, people have been instructed to be cautious during the day as well as night during the rain. On Monday also, the mood of the weather in the state suddenly changed late in the evening. There was heavy rain in the mountainous areas. At the same time, a drop in temperature was recorded due to light rain in Dehradun.

The rain caused trouble

Yamunotri Highway got closed due to debris and boulders in Ojri Dabarkot. Due to rain, debris and stones are falling here continuously. Vehicles have been stopped at safe places on both sides. On the other hand, vehicular movement on Sonprayag Gaurikund road can start from 30th August. This road has suffered a lot of damage due to landslides and river erosion. The entire team of NH is engaged in repairing the road. Sonprayag Gaurikund road suffered heavy damage in the disaster on 31st July. The 5 km long road got damaged at seven places. The work of repairing it is going on in full swing.

According to NH’s Chief Engineer Dayanand, protective structures are being built for protection at places where erosion is taking place due to the river. Apart from this, work is also being done at a fast pace in the landslide affected areas. Efforts are being made to repair the road and open it for vehicles by August 30.

Temporary bridge washed away in Sitapur

Due to heavy rains on Monday, the temporary bridge was washed away due to the rising water level of the river in Sitapur of Tehri district. Due to this, 8 tourists got trapped. On receiving information about the tourists being trapped, the SDRF team reached the spot and rescued the tourists safely with the help of a rope. All of them were staying in a resort built in the forest across the road. The tourists informed the police about the bridge being washed away when it rained. On this, police and SRF teams reached the spot. All these tourists were rescued safely with the help of a rope.
