“After looking at the draft documents, I see one place that should be slightly supplemented or highlighted. Here it will not be accepted as a criticism and attack of the old man. I usually think about how to improve something that is not bad”, said V. Landsbergis on Thursday evening at the TS-LKD council.

“In this case, when I see those documents and this manifesto, (…) I would like it if there was one accent and one note visible. We talk about our work – that’s understandable, this is our event. But we are talking about the situation of Lithuania, about really great achievements of Lithuania. Because we are the ruling party, we forget a little bit that we are not the only ones.

And since this is a pretty sensitive area, both in terms of justice and in terms of diplomacy, I would love to have some of those moments in that project. “We have overcome many challenges” and so on – yes we have, but we have overcome together with our ruling coalition partners. It would certainly not harm, but would protect against all kinds of teasing and incitement,” said the honorary chairman of the conservatives.

V. Landsbergis considered that, among the completed works presented in the program, there could be achievements regarding the preservation of the ruling coalition.

“We took part in creating and preserving a new, fairer governing coalition. It’s really a big thing here that we didn’t do it alone, but together with our partners. And you always need to work with partners,” he said.

“What we have done – we are saying very important things. But, nevertheless, it was as if we were alone – the ruling party as in the good old days and we did everything alone. Here it would be correct and collegial not to forget our partners as well”, V. Landsbergis continued.

However, the honorary chairman of TS-LKD noted, whether the program will be changed in these aspects is the decision of the party leadership.

“Of course, we could write it down for ourselves – whether it is necessary or not is up to all of you here. Both for editors and commanders”, said V. Landsbergis.

ELTA reminds that the TS-LKD council, which met on Thursday, approved the short election program “Protect and nurture” and started discussions on the programmatic manifesto.

The list of candidates for the Seimas was also approved at Thursday’s meeting – it became clear that Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė will be its leader. She led the party to parliament in 2020. Seimas elections.

In the top ten of the list of candidates, the second numbered party leader Gabrielius Landsbergis, Minister of National Defense Laurynas Kasčiūnas, Minister of Education, Science and Sports Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė, Chairman of the Seimas Budget and Finance Committee Mindaugas Lingė, Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė, Minister of the Interior Agnė Bilotaitė, Seimas Chairperson of the Social Affairs and Labor Committee Paulė Kuzmickienė, Chairperson of the European Affairs Committee Žygymantas Pavilionis, Chairperson of the Environmental Protection Committee Aistė Gedvilienė.
