“The Thessaloniki report for the prime minister, as he had promised before he became prime minister, has two characteristics: firstly to capture and take stock and secondly to put the new action plan for the next year”, commented the Deputy Minister of the Interior Vassilis Spanakis, in an interview in the studio of Nautemporiki in the 88th TEF.

Mr. Spanakis referred to two bills of the Ministry of the Interior concerning local self-government. Characteristically, he said: “We have two crucial bills of the Ministry of the Interior in the consultation. In one of the two bills, there are crucial and serious provisions for the strengthening of local self-government. Among these provisions, it comes settlement of citizens’ debts (for natural and legal persons) to municipalities up to 60 installments and in fact, if there is a payment in specific installments, we are also exempt from surcharges and late payment fines”.

And he adds: “The government gives debtors in municipalities the possibility, the opportunity so that debts that exist and have been confirmed until the end of August, can be settled.”

“The government is steadily moving forward”

“We are moving forward, dealing with small and large problems, listening to every criticism and every suggestion. The government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is steadily moving forward.”

Referring to the upcoming statements of the prime minister, he noted that “we will have the opportunity to hear specific announcements on many issues, which we will be able to analyze further.”
