“I am not really interested in the mandate of a member of the Seimas, I am interested in the executive power.” If you fail to participate in the activities of the executive power, there is such a possibility (to give up the mandate of the member of the Seimas)”, said V. Uspaskich on the “Laisvės TV” program on Sunday.
Rejecting criticism that the number one politician on the list is “bait for the voter”, V. Uspaskich, who returned to the helm of the Labor Party in July, assures that his plans to give up his job in the parliament are not a deception of the voters, and the Labor Party is not a “one-man” political force.
“Mandates belong to the party, not to the person. Especially if they win in a multi-mandate constituency. It belongs to the party, because the whole party works, not just one person,” emphasized V. Uspaskich.
“Ask me why the party insists that I go first. (…) The party decides through the council and votes, raises its hands, (…) ranks people – and downgrades me to the first (place – ELTA)”, the party leader taught.
ELTA reminds that Viktor Uspaskich returned to lead the Labor Party at the end of July, replacing Valentinas Bukauskas as chairman, who took over this position from Andrias Mazuronis, who left the party.
V. Uspaskich signed a coalition agreement with the Lithuanian Christian Democracy Party of MP Mindaugas Puidokas and the Žemaičiai Party led by Irena Stražinskaitė Glinskienė. These political forces called themselves the “Peace Coalition” and will participate together in the October elections.
In the list of candidates of this political force, politicians and public figures who have previously been criticized in the public sphere for their attitude towards the Russian issue have been confirmed. Among them are Seimas member Mindaugas Puidokas, former MEP Stasys Jakeliūnas, former army commander Valdas Tutkus, actor Žilvinas Tratas, ex-parliamentarian who broke the Constitution Mindaugas Bastys.
