Vaashi Movie Review & Rating: ‘Vashi’, the first collaboration between Tovino Thomas and Keerthi Thomas, hits theaters today. ‘Vashi’ is a family drama told in the context of cases and courts. Keerthi Suresh’s return to Malayalam after a hiatus and Tovino Thomas’ first lawyer role in the film.

Advocate Ebin Mathew (Tovino Thomas) and Advocate Madhavi Mohan (Keerthi Suresh) are friends. Two young lawyers struggling to build a career. The friendship between them slowly turns into love. Although they are of both religions, they can get married with the consent of both the spouses. But in the meantime, a case they have to take over is breaking down between the two. The equations between Ebin and Madhavi change and things get more complicated.

The main highlight of the film is the performance of Tovino and Keerthi. The chemistry between the two has benefited the film. AB, who lives by his obligations and loves to speak diplomatically, and Madhavi, who likes to be outspoken, are safe in the hands of Tovino and Keerthi. Keerthi’s Madhavi represents the modern day women who are trying to bring their family and career together. Madhavi also struggles with male dominance in the workplace. However, there are no acting moments in the film that challenge actress Keerthi.

Kottayam Ramesh, Suresh Kumar, Ronnie David, Anu Mohan, Baiju Santosh, Sreelakshmi and Vanitha Krishnachandran have also played notable roles in the film.

Director Vishnu Raghav has adopted a slightly different presentation for the film. The story is told by combining the details of the courtroom, family life and the views of individuals. Director Vishnu G Raghav has tried to bring something new in the presentation.

‘Vashi’ also mentions a subject of contemporary relevance. Are laws to ensure women’s safety being abused? Is such a trend pervasive in society? Although the film raises some questions, it does not take the subject seriously enough and present it in a way that makes an impact on the audience. The film manages to capture the essence of a family drama. ‘Vashi’ presents an average viewing experience to the audience.

Cinematography is by Robbie Varghese. The lyrics are composed by Vinayak Sasikumar and the music is composed by Kailas Menon. ‘Vashi’ was produced by Suresh Kumar under the banner of Revathi Kalamandir. This is Keerthi’s first time acting in a film produced by her father Suresh Kumar.
