Vaccination may play a role in the development of nerve disease

by time news

Vaccination “may play a role” in the (re)emergence of neuralgic amyotrophy, a nerve disorder. That says Side Effects Center Lareb. The ailment can rear its head after, for example, the flu shot. Dozens of reports also came in after the administration of a corona jab. However, evidence for a connection is lacking.

Neuralgic amyotrophy is an inflammation of the nerves between the neck and arm causing sudden, severe pain in the shoulder and/or arm and muscle weakness and sometimes tingling and numbness. Recovery can take years. Complaints can also arise on the non-vaccinated side. In most cases a ‘protruding’ shoulder blade can be seen.

Autoimmune Response

It is not known how neuralgic amyotrophy develops after vaccination, Lareb said. “It may have to do with an autoimmune response to the antigen in a vaccine. In addition to vaccination, other factors may play a role, such as bacterial or viral infections, rheumatic diseases, stressful exercise, trauma, pregnancy, radiation therapy or genetic susceptibility,” says the side effects center.
