BOLZANO. Take stock of vaccine supplies and the progetto Green Pass. With this goal in the coming days, at the request of the South Tyrolean president Arno Kompatscher, an urgent meeting of the representatives of the Regions will be held with the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabrizio Curcio, and the extraordinary Commissioner for the Covid-19 emergency, Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.
The South Tyrolean president made the request during the meeting held this morning (March 25) with the other presidents of the regions. Kompatscher stated that he felt it necessary to urgently request updates from the Government with respect to fadditional provision of vaccines announced by the European Commission in particular for border regions and those affected by the diffusion of variants (we are talking about about 4 million doses at European level, of which 550,000 are destined for Italy).
Staying on the subject of vaccines, the president also asked the government to express itself on offers to purchase additional doses that the Regions are receiving from pharmaceutical suppliers. “Fast forward with the vaccination campaign will be essential to return to a social and economic life as normal as possible. To do this, it is essential to have the necessary doses of vaccine and to evaluate with certainty any possibility of obtaining them as soon as possible. There is no time to waste, ”the president said.
On 17 March 2021, the European Commission proposed the creation of adigital green certificate‘- the so-called Green Pass – to allow free and safe movement of citizens in the EU who have been vaccinated, have undergone a recent test or have recovered. Kompatscher asked the government to take stock of the progress of the project.
“The green pass system could be an important push to make the economic activities of the territory work safely, to give relief to businesses and citizens. We need to be prepared for when it is introduced, ”concluded Kompatscher.
