But now to clarify there is an order from the commissioner for the Covid emergency, Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, who explains it before the Social Affairs committees of the Chamber and Senate. The document clarifies that the individual regions must vaccinate not only the resident population but also that domiciled for reasons of work, family assistance or for any other justified and proven reason that requires a continuous presence.
The first case raised on this front it was that of off-site teachers, excluded from vaccination lists in some regions. With the motivation that so far the division of the vials has been done precisely on the basis of the resident population. But from 15 April the distribution criterion between the regions changes, and the people in charge of the health service are taken into account, which also counts those domiciled if they have a family doctor. Entries and exits are thus aligned.
On another issue that has caused discussion, and that is the use of the advanced doses at the end of the day, the head of Civil Protection, Fabrizio Curcio, intervenes: The aim of not wasting to be pursued absolutely. It serves for an agreement with the regions to direct the doses that remain not to the twenty-year-old, but to the same category to which they were intended. Senn mechanisms are created that cause citizens to lose trust. In reality, the ordinance signed in recent days by Figliuolo already provides for this mechanism. But with some margins of interpretation that evidently proved to be too generous.
The emergency commissioner confirms the objective of the 500 thousand doses per day starting from mid-April to vaccinate 80% of the population by September. Biologists and midwives will be enrolled to expand the range of vaccinators. To the 2,000 vaccination points already operational, another 420 will be added, including production sites and structures of the Italian Bishops’ Conference. 8 million doses are expected to arrive in April. A little less than all those arrived so far. But further acceleration is needed given that 52 million are expected in the whole of the second quarter.

The knot always remains this, not only in Italy. Austria threatens to block the European Commission from securing another 100 million doses of Pfizer BioNTech. He wants a bigger chunk of it. Even in the coming weeks, supplies will remain the top issue on the agenda.
