Rome, 23 May. (time.news Salute) – Italians’ confidence in vaccines has dropped: in just one year the percentage of citizens who consider them a safe and effective health tool for combating infectious diseases has gone from 92% to 76%. Probably an effect of the end of the pandemic emergency and fears of Covid infections, which had made the importance of this tool rediscover. These are some of the data from the survey carried out by The European House – Ambrosetti in collaboration with SWG, presented to the Senate at a press conference promoted by Senator Tilde Minasi (Lega) in collaboration with Ambrosetti and the Ceis – Center for Economic and International Studies of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, with the non-conditioning contribution of Pfizer.

“This year – explained to time.news Salute on the sidelines of the meeting Rossana Bubbico, consultant of the Healthcare Area of The European House Ambrosetti – we carried out a second edition of the survey already carried out last year on the same topic. It emerged that 76% of Italian citizens agree with the statement that vaccination is an effective tool in fighting infectious diseases. It is a high percentage, because we are talking about more than three quarters of the population. But the fact should make us worry that last year the percentage that believed this statement was correct was 92%.Even if trust remains high, therefore, there is a sharp reduction, perhaps due to the fact that citizens feel less the risk of the pandemic and Covid and therefore, having not fully understood the value of the vaccination tool, they no longer have a high level of trust”.

A phenomenon also highlighted by the answer to the question formulated from another angle. “The people according to whom vaccines are not an effective tool for the prevention of infectious diseases were equal to 6% last year and are 17% this year, increasing by 11 percentage points. In practice – the expert highlighted – we’ve had a decline in those who support confidence in vaccines and an increase in those who don’t think so.”
