Vaccini, Decaro (Anci): “Priority to the mayors? No thanks, we will wait for our turn. Protect exposed and fragile workers”

The mayor of Bari and president of Anci Antonio Decaro sent back to the sender the proposal of some politicians, who had asked to give priority to local administrators (and senators and deputies) in the administration of vaccines anti Covid. “Some parliamentarians, with an agenda approved by the Camera, ask to include the mayors among the categories admitted as a priority to vaccination as local health authorities – wrote Decaro in a note – We thank them, but there are many categories of exposed and fragile workers, who should be vaccinated before us. We mayors will wait our turn ”. The position taken by the mayor of capital of Puglia, as mentioned, came after the agenda approved today at Camera gods deputies which “commits the Government to evaluate the opportunity to include mayors, as local health authorities, among the categories admitted as a priority to vaccination against Sars-CoV-2 / Covid-19 from the new vaccination plan “.

As for the priority of vaccination for parliamentarians, however, the front is not as compact as that of the mayors. “I’m waiting for my turn, I’m in no hurry,” said the leader of the League Matteo Salvini. Different the opinion of Maria Teresa Baldini, deputy of Forza Italia: “The hypothesis of vaccinating parliamentarians also raises a question of image towards the country, we must set a good example” he said, speaking in the Chamber of Deputies during the examination of the Covid dl. “Vaccinating parliamentarians is a question of safety, but also of respect for those who are required to spacing social but sees us in the classroom close together. In the halls of the Chamber and Senate – he continued – people from all over Italy gather regardless of the color of the regions. We are talking about a very small number of doses and it is not understandable this hypocrisy which seems not to take into account even the fact that among us there have been several cases, many colleagues have fallen ill with Covid. Despite this – he concluded – parliamentary work has never stopped, we are in Class at our own risk ”.

we need you.

In these weeks of pandemic we journalists, if we do our job conscientiously, we carry out a public service. Also for this reason, every day here at ilfattoquotidiano.it we are proud to offer hundreds of new contents for free to all citizens: news, exclusive insights, interviews with experts, surveys, videos and much more. All this work, however, has a great economic cost. Advertising, at a time when the economy is at a standstill, offers limited revenues. Not in line with the access boom. This is why I ask those who read these lines to support us. To give us a minimum contribution, equal to the price of a cappuccino per week, which is fundamental for our work.
