Kozhikode: The Vadakara Taluk office caught fire when the accused set it on fire to cool down, police said. According to the probe team, Sathish Narayan, a native of Andhra Pradesh, had confessed to the crime.

Earlier, the police had conducted a search at various places with Satish Narayana who was taken into custody yesterday. The inspection was led by the Rural SP and was carried out on nearby buildings where there was a small fire earlier. The investigation team had earlier inspected the buildings near the taluk office where the fire broke out and another building in the city. Despite receiving complaints of minor fires in these buildings on the 12th and 13th of this month, the police have not registered a case. On the 13th, the Special Branch also warned that he would continue the fire, but the police ignored him. It is in this context that the police included earlier incidents in the scope of investigation.
