Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov met with Chairman of the Azerbaijani National-Cultural Autonomy of St. Petersburg Vagif Mamishev and the executive director of this organization Rashada Orujeva.
As Day.Az reports, having welcomed the guests, the chairman of the committee highly appreciated the role of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia and the expansion of cultural ties between the two countries.
Vagif Mamishev, thanking for the warm welcome, expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani state for its attention and care for the diaspora.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on the current situation of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Russian Federation, current plans, and future prospects.
At the end of the meeting, Vagif Mamishev was awarded the anniversary medal “100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923-2023)”, awarded to him by order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for his services in strengthening mutual ties between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, and Rashada Orujeva was awarded the medal “For merits in diaspora activities” for important contributions to the activities of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
It should be noted that in 2006, Vagif Mamishev, who made a significant contribution to the development of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia, was awarded the Tereggi medal by order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for his activities in the field of solidarity of Azerbaijanis of the world, and in 2022 – the Order of Dostlug for his services in strengthening mutual relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation.
