Valeria Arboleda made her debut with a loss at the Paris 2024 Olympics after falling by split decision to China’s Zichun Xu.

The Colombian lost with a score of 3-2 and ended her participation very early in the Olympic event, in the round of 16.

A disappointing result for the national boxing team, which already saw Angie Valdés and Jenny Arias, two of its strongest contenders, eliminated. Additionally, Yilmar González also lost in his first match.

Only Ingrit Valencia, a medalist from Rio 2016, remains alive in the Olympics and will fight in the quarter-finals in search of a semi-final spot. If she progresses, she will secure at least a bronze.

This was Valeria Arboleda’s fight

In her fight this Friday, Valeria Arboleda exhibited many ups and downs. She started very poorly, with a large advantage for the Chinese fighter, who landed many more punches.

In the second round, the Colombian showed improvement, turning around a match that was uphill and taking advantage of her counter-punching ability.

However, in the final round, the Chinese again appeared very superior and won justly, despite Arboleda having a reaction that could have given her the victory.
