PC games company Valve has unveiled the Steam Deck, the first gaming console in its history that can also be used as a mini-computer.

The portable device, which runs on the SteamOS 3.0 operating system, has received a specially designed AMD processor with integrated graphics. Depending on the version, the console is equipped with 64GB eMMC, 256GB NVMe SSD or 512GB NVMe SSD hard drive. The built-in memory can be increased by using a microSD card. RAM for all Steam Deck variants is 16 GB.

The console is equipped with a 7-inch color touch screen with a WXGA resolution (1280×800 pixels) and a refresh rate of 60 Hz, which is complemented by two trackpads. For control in games, two sticks with capacitive touch sensors, a pair of analog triggers, assignable grip buttons, a D-pad and several keys are used. The Steam Deck has built-in speakers and microphones, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The 40 Wh battery provides up to eight hours of use on a single charge. To charge the console, a USB Type-C connector is used, with which the device can be connected to a proprietary docking station or monitor. Wireless mouse, keyboard and headphones are connected to the novelty via Bluetooth.

The Steam Deck will go on sale in December 2021. Until the end of the year, the $ 399 console will hit the US, Canada, EU and UK markets, and in 2022, the device from Valve will appear in other countries.
