On the southern side of the stone is a one and a half foot sculpture of Vamana holding an umbrella. This may be the boundary stone for the sacred lands granted to the Perumal temple at Usilambatti during the Nayak period in the 17th and 18th century. Granted lands near the Perumal temple at Usilambatti still exist in the municipal area. He said there is a possibility that this stone was planted to mark the boundary.
