Hyundai takes a step forward with the Staria, a minivan that breaks with the tradition of abandoning this segment that has been installed in the market in recent years. A segment, that of minivans, which has been languishing for years due to the push of large-size SUVs. However, about 2,000 such vehicles are sold annually.

“It is a small share within the total market, but there are few models and there is still demand, which makes us think that we will be able to place between 200 and 300 Staria annually,” says Hyundai CEO Leopoldo Satrústegui.

The Staria is a minivan with clean lines, with futuristic airs, but which remains faithful to combustion engines.

At first it comes only with a 177 hp diesel version (the same as the San Fe), an eight-speed automatic transmission and three trim levels: Style, Maxx and Tecno. Hybrid or plug-in hybrid versions may arrive in the future, but not closely in time. The traction can be front or total and it has three driving modes to adapt the behavior of the vehicle to the needs of the driver: Eco, Normal and Sport.

The price of the new Hyundai model starts at 52,990 euros (Maxx finish) and the highest version, the Style, is marketed from 62,990 euros. It can have seven (Style) or nine seats (Maxx and Tecno), depending on the configuration.

At first glance, the exterior image evokes the streamlined shape of a spaceship, with a line flowing laterally in a single stroke from front to rear. The front end is enhanced by LED daytime running lights (DRL) and a position light that, in combination, run the width of the vehicle and are complemented by a bold, wide grille with a unique design pattern.

Hyundai uses the same color as the body color for all front parts to maximize the car’s clean, modern styling. In the Style finish, it adds exclusive design details to provide a look and feel of maximum luxury.

The 18-inch wheels, standard on all trims, include diamond patterns and graphics. Low beltline and panoramic side windows improve overall visibility. It is available in four exterior colors: black, white, silver and blue.

The use of the interior space of the Staria is possible thanks to a wheelbase of 3,273 meters, with a total length of the vehicle of 5,253 meters and a width of almost two meters. Its total height is close to two meters and is optimized for passengers to comfortably enter and exit the vehicle.

It has holes and spaces for storage in the roof console, in the lower part of the instrumentation and in the upper and lower part of the dashboard. It is available in seven- and nine-seater configurations.

Technologically, it incorporates the most advanced elements in terms of security and connectivity. It has a 10.25-inch digital screen, a navigation system with another 10.25-inch screen. The connectivity equipment includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Bose sound system with 12 speakers, a wireless charging pad, as well as live parking services, online voice recognition or the ‘Find my car’ function.

It has six airbags and all seats have three-point seat belts and head restraints. The Staria is also equipped with the latest active safety and driver assistance features. New features include, but are not limited to, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Intersection Assist; Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Collision Assist.
