After 18 years, Suriya and director Bala reunited for the film Vanankan, an unexpected climax. Surya withdrew from the film. The reason for Suriya’s withdrawal was some changes made by Bala in the script. Bala wrote on Twitter that Suriya backed out due to a joint decision of both of them and both of them were hurt and Suriya took that decision keeping his interest in mind. Bala noted that the Surya I saw in Nanda and like the Surya I saw in Pitamahan will definitely join us another moment. The shooting of the film started in April. Bala has decided to resume shooting in February with another actor. Kriti Shetty is the heroine.Malayalam actress Mamita Baiju is playing the lead role.
