He Senator J.D. Vance accepted the nomination of Donald Trump as a candidate for vice president of the United States for the Republican Party during his speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, urging his fellow Americans to “choose a new path.”

“I am deeply grateful and officially accept this nomination,” Vance said during the meeting, describing the evening as a symbol of “hope and celebration of what America has been and what it will soon be again.”

Vance, 39, also said that any Republican administration would prioritize the defense of the working class over business interests.

“It’s time to get off Wall Street. We will engage with the American worker,” he told delegates at the Republican convention, criticizing President Joe Biden for weakening and impoverishing the country. He also stressed the intention to prioritize hiring local labor over foreign labor.

Ahead of his speech, Vance praised his running mate’s response to the recent assassination attempt, describing him as a leader who, in the aftermath of the attack, called for national unity and remained calm.
