New Delhi: Titagarh Rail Systems is all set to capitalise on the growth opportunities offered by the Indian Railways. The company expects to complete the passenger capex by September 2025. Titagarh Rail Systems specializes in manufacturing modern transportation solutions such as semi-high-speed trains, urban metros, passenger coaches, propulsion equipment and wagons. This information was given by the company’s Vice Chairman and Managing Director Umesh Chaudhary. The Kolkata-based company is eyeing the aluminium-bodied tender for the country’s first indigenously developed semi-high-speed train, Vande Bharat Express. Speaking to ET Now, Chaudhary said that he believes that the aluminium Vande Bharat tender will come back soon. Titagarh Rail Systems is a leading company in India that provides a wide range of products and services for the railways. The company is playing an important role in the modernization of Indian Railways.

Indian Railways had earlier announced this

During the announcement of the first quarter results, Chaudhary had said that he believed aluminium coaches were something that was not finalised by the railways at that time. The railways had announced – aluminium Vande Bharat may come. If it happens, this will be the target market. In India, Titagarh Railway Systems is the only company that has produced aluminium coaches for Pune Metro.

The company has 1,280 orders from Vande Bharat

The Kolkata-based factory is confident of making 1,000 wagons per month for freight rolling stock by this year, taking the total production to 12,000 freight wagons per year. Chowdhury said the company will spend Rs 1,000 crore mainly to increase passenger rail capacity. He said demand is strong from both private and government sides. However, he clarified that demand for rolling stock is not a challenge.

Titagarh Rail Systems currently has 1,280 orders from Vande Bharat. While announcing the first quarter results, he had said, “… We believe that the demand for both Vande Bharat and Metro will remain. It is not like the wagon.”
