Chennai: The Vanniyar Sangam has demanded that no award or recognition be given to actor Surya’s Jai Beam. Earlier, various criticisms were leveled at the Jai Beam film on behalf of the Proletarian People’s Party.
Some scenes from the movie “Jai Bhim” caused controversy. Controversy arose over changing the real name of the police character portrayed as the villain in the film to Anthony Sami and naming the late Vanniyar Sangam leader Kaduvetti Guru as the culprit.
The “calendar scene” in the film was edited following criticism that it also showed the Agni bomb, a symbol of the Vanni, where the culprit was.
But in the wake of these criticisms, Bamaga youth team leader Anbumani Ramadoss began to heat up the affair by posting a letter to Surya on her official Twitter page raising a number of questions. Following Anbumani’s statement, actor Surya also gave a detailed reply. While everyone thought that the divorce had been put to an end, the Vanniyar Sangam had offered Rs. Notice was sent seeking compensation of Rs 5 crore.

No one here is given the right to denigrate another society in the name of creative freedom. The movie JaiBheem has been accused of unnecessarily and deliberately insulting the Vanni community.
PMK Anbumani Ramadoss, one of the key leaders of the BJP, has said that the Jai Beam film has caused pain and unrest among the public and youth. Anbumani Ramadas had said that the movie ‘Jaybeam’ directed by TC Gnanavell and starring Surya as the protagonist has caused pain and unrest among the Vanni community in Tamil Nadu.
At present, the demand for a central government on behalf of the Vanniyar Sangams has caused a stir in political and cinematic circles.
