This Sunday, November 12, the 13 Heures weekend set off to discover Rayol Sunday, a green setting located opposite the Hyères islands, in the Var.

Facing the Hyères islands (Var), on the Maures massif, the Rayol estate overlooks the sea. It is a 20-hectare estate, preserved from real estate. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Rayol estate was just an isolated piece of maquis, but a rich businessman and his wife fell under its spell. The couple built three houses, including a typically Provençal villa. “It’s ‘neo-Provençal’, (…) you can see this type of building all over the Riviera.” explains André Del Mote, president of the Rayol estate association.

Exceptional gardens

The estate has a second majestic residence, the Hôtel de la Mer. The architecture of this former casino fascinates visitors. The stars of the visit are the gardens. Their particularity is that they host varieties from all over the world, notably prickly pears from Mexico, and even Australian trees. These species adapt to the weather conditions of the Var, very hot summers and mild winters.

The garden has no signs or signs. Imagined by the landscaper Gilles Clément, it is a tour of the plant world, where nature is queen.
