Vårdförbundet and Almega Vårdföretagarna Agree on Flexible Pension for Healthcare Workers – Significant Increase in Total Pension

by time news

Vårdförbundet and Almega Vårdföretagarna have reached an agreement on the introduction of a flexible pension, which will result in a significant increase in the total pension of members. This follows another recent agreement in the private sector.

Members of the healthcare association included in the agreement area will see a substantial increase in their pensions due to the new flexible pension agreement. Employers will now set aside additional premiums annually for members’ pensions, in addition to the existing 4.5 percent for occupational pension ITP.

Union chairman Sineva Ribeiro expressed her satisfaction with the new agreement, stating that it will lead to a considerable increase in the future pensions of members. Ribeiro also emphasized the importance of private sector employers providing decent and equal conditions to attract employees to female-dominated health and care activities.

Besides the flexible pensions, the agreement also requires employers to provide information on whether an employee has been deemed particularly skilled, a long-standing demand of Vårdförbundet.

Negotiation manager Annelie Söderberg praised the agreement for addressing the union’s concerns regarding higher wages and prioritizing skilled workers. Söderberg believes that the agreement will lead to increased wage dispersion and better salary development for members in the profession.

To further support the work on skilled workers, the Healthcare Confederation and Almega Vårdföretagarna have planned to create joint information films and organize salary conferences. The aim is to improve the salary process going forward.

The parties have also agreed to establish a working group to address new rules regarding 24-hour rest, with negotiations scheduled to begin in autumn.

In addition to the above, the agreement stipulates an increase of 4.1 percent in OB allowances on July 1, 2023, and a further increase of 3.3 percent on July 1, 2024.

The agreement covers approximately 6,000 members who work in occupational health care, care and treatment activities, as well as elderly care.

In summary, the new agreement introduces a flexible pension, increases in variable compensation, provisions for skilled workers, and discussions on 24-hour rest regulations. The agreements apply from June 1, 2023, until further notice.
