Various socio-cultural organizations have condemned the sloganeering of themselves as ‘Rajakar’ from the quota movement. Condemning and protesting this, the leaders of the organizations said that the quota reform movement is being tried to stand as an opponent of our great liberation war and brave freedom fighters. Not only that, some people at some stage of the movement are behaving in a way that represents the defeated forces of the liberation war.

BFUJ

BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists, the top organization of journalists, has expressed deep concern over the situation regarding the quota in government jobs.

In a statement, BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists President Omar Farooq and Secretary General Deep Azad said that the journalist society, like all the conscious circles of the country, also thinks that there should be a logical reform of the quota system. Journalists do not disagree with the students who are agitating on this demand. As a journalist, after observing the events of the last few weeks, our comment is that the demand for rational reform of the quota system has been established. Now the agitators, the judiciary and the executive have to work together to fulfill this rationale.

“But we observe with astonishment that the quota reform movement is trying to stand as an opponent of our great liberation war and brave freedom fighters. Not only that, some people at some stage of the movement are behaving in a way that represents the defeated forces of the liberation war. We strongly believe, this is not the main tone of this movement. But the question of whether any particular group is trying to direct this movement in favor of the defeated forces of the liberation war, against Bangladesh or against the development progress of Bangladesh, is now coming to the fore.

BFUJ leaders said that anti-media slogans and attacks on journalists in the program of the agitators give a solid basis to this idea. We condemn all such behavior.

The leaders said, we condemn the slogans raised in support of Razakar at Dhaka University, the cradle of all democratic movements. We are surprised by this incident. We condemn and protest against it. In this context, the journalist community feels that the agitators should not increase public suffering in the name of agitation, but should help the judiciary and the executive department to establish the logical demands of quota reform on a firm legal basis. So that no more complications arise in the future.

Collective cultural alliance

Golam Kudduch president of the combined cultural association and general secretary. Ahkam Ullah said in a statement on Monday, “We are surprised and shocked by the slogans of ‘We are all Razakar’ and ‘Tumi Ke Ami Ke Razakar Razakar’ in the procession of quota activists in several universities of the country including Dhaka University last night.

They said that Dhaka University started the national language movement, the struggle against the policy of shrinking education during the Pakistani regime and united the nation in favor of the historic 6-point and 11-point revolution of the 1970s. On March 25, 1971, the Pakistani army attacked various halls of Dhaka University and brutally killed numerous students, teachers and staff because of organizing the nation in every struggle for Bengali rights. On December 14, 1971, Razakar-Albadar forces, allied to the Pakistani occupation forces, abducted prominent teachers of Dhaka University from their homes and brutally murdered them in the Rayerbazar slaughterhouse. We are surprised, shocked and angry to hear the slogan of ‘We are all Razakars’ ‘Tumi Ke Ami Ke Razaka Razaka’ in the Dhaka University campus.

The leader said, there can be opinions and differences in any matter. Every citizen has the democratic right to agitate for the realization of demands through dialogue and peaceful means. But in the name of the movement, making disrespectful statements about the great liberation war and the brave freedom fighters, making sarcasm is completely unacceptable and a sign of arrogance. Does Bangladesh have a moral right to carry the national flag after chanting the identity of Razakar Bahini, who opposed the liberation war, as self-identity? We hope that those who are confused due to various reasons will return to the mainstream of the liberation war and raise the timeless slogan ‘Joy Bangla’.

Editors Guilds

Editors Guild expressed deep concern over the slogan of Bangladesh Razakar and said that a faction centered on the ongoing anti-quota movement has tried to create an atmosphere of instability in the country. By misinterpreting a statement of the Prime Minister, the protestors chanted slogans declaring themselves Razaka, which is very painful and insulting to the self-sacrifice of the 1971 martyrs.

The president of the organization, Mozammel Haque Babu, said that everyone wants a logical reform of the quota system in government jobs. But we see, a group is trying to make the quota reform movement an opponent of the great liberation war and the brave freedom fighters. Editors Guild urges all parties to refrain from such division.

Actors Association Bangladesh

According to a press release signed by the general secretary of the organization Rawonak Hasan, the freedom fighters gave birth to this independent sovereign Bangladesh state by freeing them from the shackles of subjugation. We can never repay this debt of freedom fighters. But even if the Bengali sheds his last drop of blood, he will pay humble respect to the freedom fighters.

Neither we nor the state have any differences on the logical movement of quota reform. We have full support for any rational political or social movement by any individual or group. But by issuing this quota movement, I condemn, hate and protest against those who are disrespecting freedom fighters and trying to establish Rajakars.

Dhaka University Alumni Association

The Dhaka University Alumni Association has condemned the chanting of some students as ‘We are Razakars’ by the quota reform movement.

President of the organization Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury Parvez and Secretary General Advocate Molla Mohammad Abu Kawshar said in a statement that the history of Bangladesh student movement is not new. The language movement of 1952, the mass uprising of 1969, above all the students of various educational institutions including Dhaka University won the victory in the liberation war with their blood in the great liberation war of 1971 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Dhaka University is considered as the cradle of our liberation war and democracy. Respected teachers-students and employees of this Dhaka University were martyred by Dosar, Razakar, Albadar of the Pakistani invading forces during the liberation war. The Bengali nation hates these marked Razakars, Albadars.

They said that this new generation was brought together by the students of Dhaka University to demand justice for crimes against humanity. As a result, even after 50 years, Razakar, Albadar, convicted of crimes against humanity, have been tried in this country. The judgment has been executed. We are proud to be a member of Dhaka University Alumni Association.

But it is noticed that some students have hurt the spirit of liberation war by chanting ‘We are Razakars’ during the quota reform movement. On behalf of the Alumni Association of Dhaka University, I protest this kind of despicable act.

The leader said, we believe that the common students hate this Razakar al-Badar word and will foil any conspiracy against liberation war and freedom.
