With the Minister of Labor and Social Security Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, the Deputy Minister Mr. Vassilis Spanakis and the General Secretary of Labor Relations Ms. Anna Stratinakis, the Dean of the Parliament and Dodecanese Member of Parliament Vassilis A. Ypsilantis met. The meeting took place on the occasion of the scheduled working meeting of the President of the Federation of Food and Tourism Workers, Mr. Giorgos Hotzoglou, and the Vice President of the Federation and President of the Rhodes Hotel Employees’ Union, Mr. Thanasis Stamoulis. Vassilis A. Ypsilantis supported the requests of the Federation, given that the sector of workers in Tourism is one of the most basic links of the Dodecanese and our National Economy. He strongly supported the extension of allowances to seasonal workers in tourism, given that they are currently entitled to 3 months and 5 days allowance if they have completed between 101 and 149 days. This means that the vast majority receive an allowance until February, when the season in most hotels starts in May and the first payments are made in June. At the same time, the member of parliament of Dodecanese supported the request that those who receive unemployment may be entitled to work, some days a month, without interruption of unemployment and additional formalities.
